Come and get to know me better!

Hi, I’m Cheryl, a cooking enthusiast. A few years ago I volunteered as a chef for a charity Wine Pairing Party. Now it is an annual event, and each year I create new wine pairing recipes. It’s a lot of fun and a lot of work.

Months of research, planning and preparation go into each event, so that myself and a few volunteers can delight guests with new tasting experience each time. Different wines, different food…but mostly the same people (ah, repeat customers).

After a couple years, a growing stack of notebooks filled my desk. Test recipes, plating sketches, timing plans, supply lists and lots and lots of notes. Seems a waste to just let them all collect dust in my back room. So, I’m transcribing the wine pairing recipes, plating sketches, and planning tools here on Have Wine, Will Pair. As well as blogging notes on my latest events as they happen.

Cooking Background

While it is not my current profession, food is my passion. I have been cooking and baking since about 8 years old (which was in the 70’s, so you can do the math). I grew up on watching cooking shows on PBS (before Food Network was a thing) . Favorites were Jacques Pépin and something called Dessert Circus.

Crazy about Cakes

My other foodie interest is to make my kiddo’s birthday cake each year (and maybe some other cakes for fun). I’m not a professional baker either, but what I lack in precision skills, I make up for with artistic flair.
